Clifden Bay 22/23 May 09

People:
Myself and my dad

Time: 19:00-21:00 on 22nd and 11:00 - 17:00 23rd

Tide: low to high

Rigs: Pulleys/ flappers and feathers

Bait: Mack/sandeel/squid/razor

Result:
Dad: 4 pollack and a huss

myself: doggie, pollack and 2 huss


report:
So I was over in Clifden for work, took the time to get some fishing in.
The night session started raining as soon as we began our trek from the van!
Dad was first with the Huss, then myself the pollack on black feathers..
He had a go then on feathers, got 2 doubles of pollack..
I finished up with a doggies as we had to leg it before darkness fell..

Sat Morning.. awoke to a miserable day! so depressing, so rolled back over for 2 hours..
Awoke again to find the cloud liftin and blue skies out! JOy!
so off we trekked, less gear this time though, felt like a triathalon the night before, nets, rod rests etc..
Fishing was slow, was hoping for some ray...
But got my First huss of 09, weighed 7lb 14 oz, followed by my second, smaller one, which was deep hooked so no pick, went back quickly to avoid further trauma. Both fell to the Mack.

On the way back after, I saw my first ever irish lizard- unfortunately my boot had seen it first! I accidently had killed the little blither!

But the fish all went back fighting fit so I tried to preserve life where I could :D

well done spindlefist some lovely fish,glad you found the mark ok,you had better luck then me on the 23
did you see a guy with a orange floatation suit fishing but not catching on the side of a cliff across the bay from you then that was me

what weight was the huss,looks pretty big

didn';t see ya i'm afraid..although my face is probably a deeper shade of your floatation suit after the sun was finished with me :D

the huss was 7lb 14 oz...

didn't spot you as well but looked a few times because i was wondering did you go fishing
7lb 14 oz that's a great fish,must have been a great fight
i only got sea weed, double that weight but it didn't fight at all :oops: :oops:

Well done Spindlefist, some nice fish there, thats a great pic of the huss, teeth and all :lol: :lol: . As for the lizard, he was probably basking in the sun and hadnt warmed up yet and was a bit slow, but at least you got to see one :lol: :lol:

Nah, actually caught him on an aul silstar beach caster I have! :D
not one eyelet on it is original, it's knackered, but still keeps em coming to the shore!
