West Waterford and Wexford, 8th & 9th May

#1 Post by Stan »

People: Me plus others

Duration: 4hours on 8th, 7 hours on 9th

Tide: 6ish in Waterford and 8ish in Wexford

Weather: Strong W winds on 8th and lighter W winds on 9th

Bait: Lug, crabs, mac, sandeel and lures

Rigs: Various but mostly 2 up 1 down

Results:bass in Wateford and very little ( flounders & 1 smut) in Wexford

Report:

Arrived in Waterford on Friday and collected some lug from the bassman himself. No surf so decided to try a local spot that oftem has fish on it without surf. There was a very strong W wind blowing straight offshore and so as expected the fish had gone to ground.

Met with Cortaz and of course he had caught several bass at low tide on plugs/spinners in the same area.

Next morning met him and 3 others for a spot of spinning. Only stayed an hour but in that time 3 nice bass caught by group. Ollie had one of over 10lb.... a real cracker.

I then had to head off to join the Burough SAC for a comp in Morriscastle. Conditions were quite good except for some weed. However, very few fish were caught with just 2 flounders winning the comp.

Thanks to Cortaz for some fab bait plus, as usual, expert advice. 8)
