Report: after being laid up unwell for a while it's good to be back to my old self now i have to squeeze in as many sessions as possible this month to reach my target of 10 sessions per month. (my new year's resoloution). so it was off to fill the bait fridge with rag as there are good low tides this week, then off to donaghadee . i had planned to fish 2 rods but the first was only baited up and cast out as the bites started in earnest i landed my first fish, a wee codling, before i even had a rig tied to the other rod. a good sign. so with 2 rods baited up and cast out the bites came thick and fast, and i soon packed one rod away again as the 2 were getting bites at the same time and it was hard to strike the right rod at the right time . as i picked one rod up to strike it, it went dead and the other started to twitch i think the fish were messing with me . so i concentrated on just the one and had a lot more success in getting hook up's the pouting and poor cod came on the feed with a couple coming in quick succession. the poor cod was'nt a bad size either, just 2cms short of my p.b.. then it was pollack and rockling followed by a single pin whiting. i soon realized that the bait was in short supply as i only brought enough for a quiet session after my last session, and taking into consideration it's march, it was obvious that i had underestimated how much bait i would need i was raging with myself, there's no worse feeling when the fish are feeding hard and you're near out of bait, but you know you have a fridge and freezer at home loaded with bait so by 11.30pm i was outta bait and packed away. but it was hard to stay annoyed too long considering the session i just had

Cormdogg wrote:Good session! 10 a month if you do the math thats a bunch! Methinks I might go for some rag next time i'm out
we seem to spend more time beside the sea than in the house the rag worked a treat. all the fish apart from the codling fell to it. the codling was taken on mack and the sand eels kept coming back in untouched

lol! yeah jonny, we went back down on friday night but it was blowing a bloody gale only managed 3 rockling and a pouting in 6hrs. but bite indication was impossible

i know conor, some anglers complain when they reel in stripped hooks, but i don't mind it. at least it gives you a bit of hope knowing that there is at least something out there stripping them what really makes your heart sink is when they come back untouched, even after a good 25min soak
