stripping basket
in my opinion a stripping basket is essential for all swff.there is nothing more infurating than seeing a good fish boil, shooting a cast at them only to find that it has been snagged on a piece of kelp or knotted from the wave motion (i know from experience!!!). because of this i decided to make one myself and came across this website which works out faultlessly

no problem, i also cut out 2 u shapes at either end so i can leave the rod balance on the basket while changing fly etc. never got on well with the mesh ones, always ended up getting the fly line tangled in it.

Re: stripping basket
OK I'm goin to suggest an alternative. The ones yer talkin about are very good and I'm not faultin em. However, I find em awkward at times. An alternative would be the Total Control Stripping Basket availabe from Guide stockists. I like this one because it is collapsable and you don't know you have it on while walking to and from the fishing location! I can't say I get tangles using it. If you don't watch wot yer doin you could get a fly stuck in it but thats not the baskets fault (no offence).

Re: stripping basket
Or you could do it the old fashioned way and simply coil the line round you hand. Dropping it just prior to shooting it.

Re: stripping basket
I bought one of the collapsable ones, useless then made one from a small basket, a belt and some cable ties - cost about fiver and does the job perfectly.
