Coliemore rocks , Dalkey 28/12/08

Duration:13:30 - 16:30

Tide: HW 12:00

Weather: Clear, sunny & little to no wind

Bait: Mack & crab

Rigs: running ledger

Results: coalfish & around 10 whiting




Report:

It had been a few weeks since my last fishing session (thought i was in confession there!), so it was finally great to 'break out' of the house after all those days couped up over X-mas !
Had some mack in the freezer & some crab too that was left over from my last fishing trip.
Didn't have much time so headed to the rocks in Coliemore. It was a nice day and didn't feel at all chilly what with my Ski thermals on! Anyway got tackled up,cast out and straight away bait was being nibbled at.......yes , you guessed it - whiting. First one was about 26cms but was fairly
chubby so kept him. Got my second rod ready with some crab and a couple of mins after lobbing it out, rod tip was hopping a bit much for a whiting - took in a Coley of 35cms.After that has some tiny whiting which I threw back, but kept four 25cm+ ones for the kitchen.

All 'n all was happy with my catch as i wasn't expected much at all.

Baked the Coley in foil with quite a few herbs, onions & butter and must say it tasted good & went down well !

anyway here's to 2009 (Got my Sea fishing ireland 2009 handbook, so can't wait to get some
use out of it!)

did ye lose any gear? that coliemore is a dirty spot...

Say a decade of the rosary for absolution of your sins . . . . Well done on the session nice to get a few fish on an unexpected session .
If I'm not gonna catch a fish , I may aswell not catch a BIG fish !

I've seen people fishing there when I was out on a boat from Bullock. I really must give it a try soon. Well done on the fish!
