Attention bass anglers in Cork

#1 Post by beachbuddy »

As a result of all the netting currently going on in the east cork area,i've been speaking to a fishery officer who is willing to meet anglers in an informal meeting.Basically it would be a meeting to give an insight into whats actually going down on our beaches and what we as anglers can do to help save our bass stocks.
The meeting would be basically an info session with contact numbers for action to be taken asap against the INDIVIDUAL :!: :!: ,who is depleting the stocks and what we would be looking for, locations etc. There would be no getting involved directly with the offenders, but any activity seen by us would be passed on to the powers that be,so that it could be dealt with swiftly.
The facts that were been told to me have prompted me to try to get this meeting organised it is deadly serious and i for one as a bass fanatic am not prepared to sit back any more,so i urge all anglers in the cork area to hear what the man has to say and what action we can carry out safely to help save our bass. This officer has done this kind of thing with the cork salmons association to great affect,so this is our chance.
Anybody that would be interested can pm me and when or if  we get numbers, the finer details can be shared as to times and location etc.
Lets try and save our sport and this INFORMAL meet is only a small step but it would be a start.I for one will be there,WILL YOU :?:

Good for you, well done.

I hope some of our Cork lads take up the offer. It can be a bit of a drag, going to meetings when there's fishing to be done, but if anyone is genuinely interested in putting a stop to illegal activities than a small effort could go a long way.

well done marlinman :!: the earlier these criminal activities are brought to an end the better. Shocking though that it is just one person responsible, albeit on the positive side it shouldn't be too difficult to stop further depletion of stocks then.
I wish you good success with further proceedings and appeal to every sensible angler in your area and concerned by this issue to get in touch with you asap, so the meeting can go ahead with no unnecessary delay. I'd have no understanding for this irresponsible, selfish and greed fuelled behaviour from an individual, especially not in this day and age

Hi all,
just thought i should let people know that any info regarding times and location for this meeting will not be put up publicly just in case some UNDESIRABLES might pick up on it.Only when enough people show enough interest will any info be divulged by pm's only.[Safety reasons]
Also early jan is been looked at for arranging this informal meet due to people on hols etc.The whole thing will be kept very discreet so as to not draw any unwanted attention on the night.
Tight lines.

This is definitely the way to go and it works. What the fisheries officers need is live up-to-the-minute information that can put them on activity as it happens. Developing this kind of relationship is the way to go.

Good luck with it.

Cheers lads,
good to have such a positive reaction .Hopefully this will be the start of sorting out this problem that has always been going on around us but by us anglers been more aware of our fishing areas maybe just maybe we can protect the fish for years to come so future generations can enjoy what we have been lucky enough to experience.

Anyone up for few casts after the meeting (a.k.a. the Night of the Long Lines). Rockhunter said he'd be on for wetting a line.
