I printed it off a while ago and forgot about, only found it again the other day and started reading it. Its a fascinating book and definitely worth checking out. The fact that it is free on his website is an added bonus.

So many cool books there. Streets book is a little gem as is ken whelans. Operation Sea Angler though has been my favourite for years, every time i read it i feel like chuckin in the job and just spending the rest of my days at the sea....well worth picking up, although i think now out of print, got mine at a second hand bookshop.

Yeah, the other guy is Alan Vaughan alright. I just order a copy of it and B.A.S.S on Bass, its actually a very good time to buy books with the euro/sterling exchange rate.

Re: best fishing book ever
cant remember the name of the book, had three sections, one on coarse angling, one on game and finally one on sea, on which was written by alan yates. sparked my fascination with sea angling as a young boy and along with my grandfather and dad was responsible for the angler i am today.

Re: best fishing book ever
just read most of hooked on bass and 2 things that stand out about the book are....., using small wrasse as live/deadbait and the fact a bird was found in the stomach contents of a bass caught in ireland back in the seventies. got me thinking does anyone remember a kinda freak lure years ago called SURF MOUSE
, it was meant to replicate a poor mouse who got into trouble whilst walking a beach and gets tumblef$%ked in the surf for a few hours and eventually a big bass eats it............anyone remember this lure

Can vouch that small live wrasse are excellent at the right locations but dont use em anymore as think its not good for the old wrasse population.
