Greys rod Quality

#1 Post by somedose »

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed the decrease in quality of Grey's rods? I bought an Orion about 3-4 years ago and I saw a new version of it the other day - the blank was extremely thin and the guides looked terrible. Is it me or has the level of quality dropped?

for certain the build quality has really decreased , compared to the
original greys custom built rods, have owned the new orion, complete
mess of a rod, as beachcaster has said the apollo mk11 is head and
shoulders above the rest of the rods in the range.

I bought a PZ Match 2 yeas ago and its a great rod. Lovely tip and decent caster too.

Havent had any problems except i noticed that the varnish in the rings cracked fairly easily...but cant say what the newer ones are like.
Have seen on a few other websites that the Greys stuff is taking a fair amount if knocking regards quality control and stuff like that...so there must be something in it.
