ANYONE EVER FISHED COONANA,CUAS CROM OR PORTMAGEE PIERS IN KERRY IF SO WHAT DID YOU CATCH

If you use the search facility on the bulletin boards (next to album above) you will find lots of mentions of Portmagee, but mostly for the bridge. It fishes well on a flooding tide, especially at night albeit that can be a bit tricky with the traffic etc and landing a large fish (ray) can be quite an adventure...

(i) Coonana
Spinning off the Pier is popular for Pollack.

With a good pair of boots I'd recomend right of the pier off the Rocks using Shrimp as bait for Ballan Wrasse. Other catches are Whiting & Flats.


(ii) Cuas Crom
Coming into swimmers season so unlikely you'll have a chance to fish the Pier but rocks beyond Pier is a good spot for the Ballan Wrasse.

Don't know much of Portmagee.

having dived at coonana i can tell you there are plenty of decent pollack around.as for portmagee,if you are down that far you might as well head over to culoo rock.it is a very famous rock mark on valentia.very good for pollack wrasse and mackerel.dont even think about it on a rainy or windy day and only go if you are comfortable on rocks.it is a great mark.if you are determined to fish portmagee then you should try fishing off the bridge.mussels from the pillars fall down which provides a good feeding ground for fish.it should be quite productive(pollack).good luck :D
