tope

#2 Post by jw »

afternoon session was targetting tope, brian had the first fish, we could see it had been tagged. It would have been interesting to see whether it had come 1000 miles but
the inadequate wire trace was sawn through just at the boat

two tope were boated and a second trace bitten off

#4 Post by jw »

the slick was set at 10:55 aand we waited till 3:30 for our only run,
perhaps it was a bit early, there were no gars either. Brian managed
to land 3 2lb whiting on a 2 snood rig.

Nice one lads, but all bigger blue sharks are waiting for the august trip
It is not a matter of upper or lower class, but of being up a while and down a while...

2 Huss for me, biggest about 13 1/2, one trace was bitten through by a tope. Plenty of big whiting to whole mackerel fillets!!! A good variety of species for me.

Tope + shark

#12 Post by BRIAN DUGGAN »

Great trip, shame to drop my first tope because the Greys tope leader wasnt up to the job,The shark that John got caused a bit of a stir by picking up two of the baits,The Huss and whiting we got were of a good stamp of fish Huss around 13 and several of the whiting around the two pound mark, keeping going when the fishing was a bit slow certainly paid off,,Luke the skipper put in a big effort to get us the fish we were after, and thanks to Jw for organising the trip.
