Three of us fished Skerries Saturday eve 7pm to 10pm.
Rag, Squid, Sand Eel and feathers.

Started off fishing off the rocks by the lifeboat station - nothing. Moved to the pier at about 8.30, Joe and I fishing ledger rigs and Derek fishing feathers. Derek pulled in a good sized Mackerel about 9pm so we all switched to feathers. Despite our best efforts, fishing all angles and many ranges, nothing else was landed.

To make it worse, it was Derek's first attempt at sea fishing - and he was using my gear!

Tried again on Sunday morning - blanked again.

I find the only time it's worth fishing out in Skerries,especially the pier is usually early to mid September,there's usually plenty of mackerel about by then and if you can catch the tide very early in the morning it's even better.Good luck

I've had mixed fortune from the pier over the past few weeks. From blanking on several successive days to pulling in 6 macks in 30 mins.
An hour or so either side of high tide is best, particularly when at early morning or mid-evening.

Few mackerel showing out here at the minute but very hit and miss

Ahh Skerries.

Is the Stoop still there or is that Donabate?

There used to me mullet around the harbour from mid water down and there is a great reef offshore, less than halfway to Lambay where you can pick up macks, pollack, coalfish and bumping it on the bottom red cod.

Long time ago but great memories...

yep, the Stoop is still there and usually packed!
I have not spotted Mullet in the harbour for a number of years now.
Suprising as there is still plenty of activity there and lots of bits thrown from the boats.
