People:Steve Crow, Me,MC, Corby,MGA & Salty Dog

Duration:From 2-11 ish

Tide: Rising Then Dropping

Weather: Windy,Clear, Sunny..Brian felt rain tho :wink:

Bait: Lug,Mac,Sandeel,Crab,Squid,Rag

Rigs:Up n Over, 1 Hook Clipped,Pulleys, 1 Up etc

Results:Steve Crow- 2 dogs.....Me 2 Pollock (2lb & 5 lb) 1 Dab & 1 Dog...MC 4 Dogs i think....Corby i lost count of his dogs and mackeral, but he had loads...MGA had 2 dogs....Salty dog saved the blank at the last minute with a doggie :D

Report: Fine day for fishing as i arrived in Glaway city, Sun beating down, A quick call to steve and i set off to his gaff. Met by him and his bass :shock: ...So gear loaded up its off we went to wait for Mc at the huntsman...Sure we had time for a pint and a cuppa, so why not? Craic was rolling straight away and soon as MC arrived instantly we started taking the piss and had a ball... so equipped with rods reels and rigs, oh yeah and a big fork to keep brian away from the bbq, we head off to connemara...Without mentioning the terrible racing conditions and driving on footpaths, we will go straight into talking about the fishing....sort off... it started of real slow, with brian and mga fishing about 10 mins before us we had expected someone to get a fish...but introductions made and all rigged up for the best, we set up camp gave out tea and had some banter...Main topic of the day was keeping brian away from the bbq via a fork, also "leave it" im sure that will ring bells lol... Brian was the first to get fish, a nice doggie, then it was me for the doggie bash...but bites were few and far between...turned out to be hard fishing but the dogs were still there....i changed tactics to a blinged up flattie rig, which on retrieve about 10 yds from the shore hooked me up a lovely 2 lb pollock...so it was turn to try a spin with a zziplex profile and a mag elite...fun :D ...I think we all caught our fish on the slack when the wind had died down...Mc was next to catch with his dogs, and then brian i believe with mackeral left right and centre, MGA pulled in his double shot, which left steve and salty to battle out for worst blanker of the day...hoping it would be steve i prayed to the gods, but it wasnt meant to be, he pulled through with 2 dogs lol...poor salty had a bad day of it, with mc scaring him with his "outgoing mannerisms" :lol: and the fish not playing ball, but at least the barbies werent burnt this time round...well done brian...thanks MC & MGA for the grub and bbqs btw... :D
After trying the flatie rigs on several more occasions to no sucess, brian labelled it a fluke, so determined to get another pollock i tried the same tactics but decided to leave it out and retrieve very slowly over the rocky kelp bed a few yards out...pulled in the dab instead, and out again but this time the pollock latched on, i held on for dear life and set the drag...i winkled it out of a snag and shored a 5lb pollock, my biggest from the shore...a lovley looking thing... after this i was happy enough after travelling all the way up...so ill leave the lads tell you there accounts...cheers lads for the craic was 90 and the grub was bang on

Craic was good ok. Nothin' like a bit of lively banter, especially when the bites are slow :cry: (At least nobody blanked :P )

Fair play to Mr Green & MC for making their long trips.

For those brave enough to try and master the recipes, see below. (Warning: many years of cooking experience is required to perfect these :roll: ).

(1) Special Outdoor Gourmet Burgers/Sausages (BBQ):

Ingredients: Burgers & Sausages
Cooking Instructions: Throw as many burgers & sausages as possible on well heated bbq. Remove before they get black.

(2) Special Outdoor Gourmet Egg Blaa’s:

Ingredients: Eggs & Blaa’s
Cooking Instructions: Heat loads of oil on a pan and fry the eggs. (Where utensils are scarce, having a chef onhand to flip the eggs is handy). Sandwitch eggs between blaa’s and enjoy. Some people are also known to include cheese and fried tomatoes in their blaa-sambo’s, but that’s the Deluxe recipe.

(Note: U need a good Waterford source for the Blaa’s :wink: )

top meet lads, nice to meet you all, hope i get to see you all again, what made the trip fpr me was the fact i outfish the crow by 4 to 2 :lol:

as Daved said bites where slow, real slow, and after several hours i wound in the 3/0 pulley and under the weed i found my first dog of the day. After getting fed up watching Brain wind in dog after dog after dog, and others blanking on went the 2hook size 1 loop rig, it worked a double hook up followed by another single. All dogs came to sandeel or mackeral. Was unhappy to see steve catch a doggie, but when saltydog, who got bites all day but hooked nothing packed up and wound in his last cast to find a doggie, steves face dropped :lol: :lol:

mga, you forgot to mention the Gourmet Ciabatta's.
cut in half with olive oil drizzled on each half, then toss onto the BBQ beside the sausages until nice and toasted, slice up mozzarella and toast them on the BBQ with some sliced tomatoes, use fingers to keep turning over the mozzarella and tomatoes until nice and toasted, lay mozzy and toms on ciabatta, and enjoy :D

flippin those eggs on the pan was the easy part, stopping hot olive oil from splashing out onto arms and other exposed skin is the hard part :shock:

great to see a few species being caught, pity the ray didnt play ball :cry: next time maybe. some good craic had as well, plenty of banter, slagging and tampering with other peoples reels :shock: also nice to see a good selection of zippy's old and new(ish).

One thing i want to know is.. who is giving corbyeire fishing lessons on the east coast.. he out fished us all :shock: :shock:
he also seems to be casting a bit further too :shock:

and saltydog seems to be getting a better cast too :wink:

Obviously, I didn't have enought of it last night. :lol: :lol:

Which reminds me, :roll: , part 2 of the session continued into the small hours of the morning when myself and herself met Steve in the Quay's.
Thankfully the pints were more frequent than the bites earlier. :twisted:

Part 3 of the session (even smaller hours of the morning) - the charcoal grill. 'nuff said. :lol:

arnet yee forgetting the freshest of fresh connemara herbs we put on the sausages and burgers... in laymens terms...Grass lol..super looking pics there... Lovin the chocolate buttons Martin, and for hartleys, get away outta that :D

It was nice to be able to put a few more faces to names. Fair play to the lads for coming across. Lads you might just get a cookbook out of it yet :) thankfully those couple of dogs obliged at the end to spare my blushes as I was getting very worried about being the only person not to catch.......... Phew!!
