Report:
Picked Stevecrow74 up about 8am, to do a little “pre-Galway Meet” test of the waters of Little Killary. (He’s not really a morning person, is he?
Setup around 9.30. Weather was good with light breeze and the water nice and flat. Just the one light sprinkle over the few hours.
I hadn’t the second rod baited-up when the ratchet fired on the first. 1st doggie. Quick check of Steve’s rods – still quiet.
(“Steve, you still blanking there?”).
Shortly afterwards Steve pulled in a small Pollack. Now I mean small. Steve reckoned it was a counter.
Pulling in doggie #3 and my other rod bounces. Hadn’t time to unhook #3. Left rod down with doggie #3 still on the hook as I pulled in doggie #4. When I turned around there was Steve with his finger half way down my doggie #3.
“Deep hooked” is all I heard. Think he was taking some kind of pleasure out of that deep throat exercise, in a strange kind of way.
Meanwhile, Steve was taking the odd doggie as well.
(Think he might have been double-counting a few of ‘em ).
Eventually, a small thornie to me and a few more dogs.
On Steve’s last cast, he pulled in a double – a doggie and a small thornie (probably the same one I returned and sent in the direction of his bait
Overall, great day. Loads of fish and bites between fish to keep us both happy.
The Galway Meet on Saturday should be good on this mark, especially on a rising/full tide.
Final result:
Stevecrow74: 6 dogs, 1 thornie, 1 pollack (go on so, I’ll count it for you)
Mga1761: 7 dogs, 1 thornie.
(Turn screen on it's side to see Steve's double...
