Report:
myself saltydog and slowarm arrived near the mark to find mga1761's car parked up, shortly afetr we got a txt saying he just arrived(quick check of engine heat on bonnet said otherwise) arrived down to rocks to find him already fishing, but still blanking(which happens alot to him all of the day)

a quick set up of rod and cast out before introductions(priority's are important) with all the rods in the waster(which had a fair swell going on it and a few white tops) the banter started up, i'm happy in the knowledge that i have converted one other to the fancy of chocolate stout

the fishing seemed to be slack so i brought out the spinning rod and set up a size 1 hook off a 2oz lead and with a strip of mackerel jigged it along the rocks, a nice little tap confirmed a little pollock for me, after a quick shout to the lads to rub it in and back to catching another pollock, and another, and another... then saltydog pulled out a nice sized mackerel( 2nd person NOT to blank today), and then i pulled out a nice pollock about 2and a half lbs.. one for the pot me thinks..
then spinning rods were cast out from all directions... time for me to sit back and watch... well it was fun

back to proper fishing then for all of us as a local arrived with half a rod and half a fag sticking out of his mouth.. his first cast saw a full house of mackerel.. which is strange as saltydog was casting in the same place for an hour and a half before hand and not managing to get anything in that spot.. after the local filled his bucket he moved off home.. and saltydog reoccupied his space to thrash the water for ten minutes before a stray mackerel appeared.. but as slowly as mackerel came in the feathers were getting snagged and being lost, i chanced my arm with a spinner, and managed to pull in a nice big mackerel (my 12th species of the year), wasnt until after i realised i was casting braid on a multiplier into a strong wind
the later is was getting the less it looked like two others would catch, and after a while slowarm gave up and headed off (hopefully next time you catch) a couple of more yocals.. er.. locals arrived but with no more success than slowarm or mga1761 were having

they headed shortly after. as darkness beckoned a bait change was due and struck into what felt like a good fish. but ended up being a good spidercrab(basket ball sized) that took the snood just as it was being lifted..as it got dark a light rain appeared but looked less likely that mga1761 was going to catch a fish.. finally we all gave up and parted ways only to meet again in supermac's in spiddle for last orders.. after a feeding of mackerel flavoured chips we parted ways again...
a tough session with two people blanking, the weather really didnt help and i'm surprised even doggies didnt make an appearance ,
but at least we had our own private air show as the SAR helicopter performed practice sessions over the aran island ferries.. i feel sorry for the poor rescuer that got 'dunked' into the water more than one occasion..
great to meet another Galway lad off the site ( and ye all think i'm mad )
what happened on that rock stays on that rock
by the way.. just for the record
stevecrow74: 5 pollock 1 mackerel
