Crew:myself
Date:17th may
Location:cork harbour
Duration:12 hours
Tide:ebb, flood, ebb
Weather:v nice , but overcast
Bait:ragworm, crab
Rigs:improvised single size 16 hook, and 1oz lead !
Results:goldsinney wrasse, rock goby, tompot blenny, pollock, golden grey mullet, ballen wrasse, mackerel, launce, coalfish, codling, poor cod, oh and a corkwing wrasse that i mis-identified and threw back without a picture
Report:set out nice and early, after barry got the goldsinney it gave me the goal to go on a mini species hunt in cork harbour, as you can see from the results it was a succesful day.
Had to really downsize the tackle, ended up with a 1oz lead with a small 3 inch snood above it and a single size 16 hook, baited with rag, it did the trick, and it also pulled up some ballens to 2lbs!!
I spent most of the time in east ferry, and amazingly i had 6 species in just the one spot near the marina.
I did venture to a few other places and picked up a few goldens gey mullett, and some cod and ballens of the harbour rock.
Was a lovely day out , and i learnt a lot today,( especially how to identify a corkwing!!!!)
