Report:Left Dublin in the lashings of rain but from Bray down it was dry and stayed like that for the rest of the session, till I returned to Dublin (rain again). Met lads at Wicklow Harbour and set up . Neil was in the hotspot and was busy pulling in whiting 2 at a time

. I cast out and got stuck

. Next cast I was into a small whiting and the pressure was off, no blank tonight Dave

The other lads were catching regularly all night but it was slow for me. This was my first time fishing with a group of experienced anglers (they'll love that

) and I was enjoying watching them as much as fishing myself. There was a great bit of banter all night. Neil saw I was having difficulties catching and with his local (he can trace his roots back to the Norman conquest, De Bruin

) knowledge saw straight away that I was casting too far. Next cast saw me catching again, a whiting followed by a nice doggie. I had a chemical light on my rod tip and I have to say it makes a great difference, no more sore neck from focusing the headlight on the tip

. The bait here was small slivers of mackeral and rag( Half a rag if theyre too big, the other half wriggles just as good on the next hook

). The lads left at 10 but I stayed till 11 as I had travelled the furthest and wanted to make the most of the trip. I moved into Neils hotspot and straight away had another doggie. I thought it was a coalie as it put up such a great fight. It was a doggie a cast and finally another whiting until a ship entered the harbour and it died down a bit. I heard the town clock strike 11 bells and it was time to go home. Not wearing a watch and having left my phone in the car, i'd still be there if it wasnt for that town clock
ps, I brought our rubbish away with me and as i was last to leave had a look around and picked up a few cans etc. Not much left to be fair but why dont the council provide a bin somewhere on the pier . Just a thought
