rock fishing at Garretstown, County Cork

#1 Post by martyn »

Another relocated Brit I'm afraid. Anyway, in my previous life I was a (very) coarse fisherman, but now that I am in the Emerald Isle I quite fancy giving the sea a go. As I'm not far from Garretstown I wonder if anyone has any tips etc on the rock fishing that is available? I know that it is avaliable because some kind soul has put a notice that says 'Rock Fishing' on the sea wall.

I need to know when, where and with what. I am just coming to terms with tides (don't get these on canals).

Sad I know but I would greatly appreciate any advice (and yes I will go into the local tackle shops too).

With thanks

Martyn

Hey Hey!
Good and bad news really. I don't fish over there much but the rock fishing (pollack, mackerel and bass) and surf beach fishing (bass and flats) is Excellent!!
There is a tackle shop in Clonakilty who will be able to give you better than this so give him a call.
