People: me and Michael

Duration: 21:00-24:00

Tide: Incoming

Weather: Cold and a slight breeze

Bait: Frozen mackerel, frozen squid

Rigs: 3 hook flappers, 2up 1down size 2/0

Results: 4 whiting, 3 plaice and 1 flounder to me, 5 whiting to Michael

Report: We tried the first time the pier in Cheekpoint and weren't disappointed. The first cast brought me 1 plaice and 1 flounder while Michael got straight 1 whiting. All whitings small - the biggest one around 25cm.

Good luck!

plaice! Well done you. What size were they?

Time spent fishing is never time wasted...

2015 targets - a triggerfish, a specimen bass, a three bearded rockling to complete the set and something big and toothy from certain north Mayo deep water marks

Two of 'em were 30cm the third one 36cm.

I almost felt no bite on all of them. Twice I just got it in because the whiting struck.

I will go tonight again and will take my camera with me - hope that I will be lucky and will catch one.

By the way lads - my daughter was born on the 28th January at 6.40am, my birthday was yesterday, 29th January and I got my first plaice - couldn't have better two days!!!!

Good luck!
