That basking shark sighting was me, and if it had been a blue, it would have towed the boat to Wales, probably.brianbru wrote:l Ive seen a report on this forum or it could of been the BAI forum, but a lad was fishing on the wreck of the bolivar on the kish bank when a basking shark surfaced beside him, he also had some great pics of it. is this unusual? you really don't here much sightings of them in Dublin bay so why not other sharks. I know they are totally different types of shark but i just think if the basking sharks can be among us so can the blues.

2000 lbs mono please!
Dougie from Hewetsons in Westport, whose normally a good source of yarn as well as braid, will tell anyone who will listen how he has had 200 lb mono bitten through on several occasions fishing the Bills Rocks out past Clew Bay. Only species that might be able to do that is halibut if you ask me, but he swears it was sharks, so you have been warned!

2015 targets - a triggerfish, a specimen bass, a three bearded rockling to complete the set and something big and toothy from certain north Mayo deep water marks
