VHF Radio

#1 Post by SeanP »

Hello,

I am looking for a replacement radio, probably a fixed rather than a handheld as the aerial is allready mounted, the swiftec M168 i think it was packed in last year, any recomendations what to go for?
Also when i had the boat in the uk i did not bother with a radio licence, it was there just in case of emergency, needed it one day when this chap was coming straight at me - while at anchor as well! http://homepage.eircom.net/~seanpalmer/HSS.jpg
Whats the story over here with a radio licence? do most of you have one?
any help would be welcome.
Cheers Sean,

Hi Sean,

i have a spare vhf (dsc) if your interested in it.
also the story here as far as vhf's are concerned is that you need to do a course in the operation of them and dsc(digital selective calling) the course name is GMDSS.
you will find all the info at this website http://www.dcmnr.gov.ie/Marine/Maritime ... nloads.htm

hope you find this of some help.
