Me, My Dad and Jaime.
Duration: 12:30-8:10

Tide:
Low-High
Weather:
Overcast, Very cold.
Bait:
Rag, Squid, Bluey
Rigs:
One up one down, Two hook booms.
Results:
Me- 3 bearded Rockling, 1 Small whiting, 1 Small Pollack
Jaime- Several whiting up to a pound, pollack, coleys, pouting. Sorta lost count. Well he caught 10 fish at the end.
Dad- Whiting, mystery fish.

Catch and release: All except the whiting. We are goodpeople.

Report:
Went down to Dee Pier with my friend Jaime for a days fishing.
We started of with hooking about 15 crabs

and a man beside us suddenly caught a big wrasse. Then another man came along and started fishing. He casted and hit the lampost

When he fished again he caught a small whiting which maade me suspect a shoal. But I was aiming for the wrasse so I casted so far I think I hit the other pier wall, seriously it looked like that, or maybe 1 or 2 meters short(how far apart are the two piers?). My friend had started catching now that he tried close in. Then my tip started juddering and then I caught a Small three beard rockling. I caught 2 more whiting and my rod stayed still. My friend was catching, my dad was catching, but I wasn't. My rod tip bounced but no hook ups. Me and my friend were using everything the same but nothing. Then suddenly Jaime caught a 1 Pounder, 33cm whiting and a 3/4 pounder after that. Yum!! We packed it in at 8:05 because it was getting cold.

Did you use the new reel Conor? Was it any good?

No I haven't learn't how to use it, and my dad whinged about the probability of me birdsnesting it. He tried his new rod, and my friend used the fixed spool i never used

Get yourself some cheap line and get out in a field with a weight attached, teach yourself.

I don't know any nearby fields.
But it would be worth a try practising down at Ballyholme beach.

About 20 years ago I was in my mate's back garden overlooking Ballyholme Beach. Over a period of about an hour I spotted over 30 sea trout jumping about 10 yards out from the shore just at the river.

I never bothered taking a rod down for a throw because of the "posh dog walkers" and the winos.

It might be worth a flick.

Used to do a lot casting at Ballyholme. Must say the dog walkers were a pain in the

Would do there best to get in front of you as were about cast

Could be the only one on the beach casting and next would have 5 dogs trying to have a pee on on your stuff. Owner would just stand there and look on and ask what you doing
