what sort of money are the heads jim? been thinking about them for the wrasse, but seem savage money on the net. any tips on cutting the angles on them? does cutting the top make it dive and the bottom make it rise?never thought id want information on your bath time exploits! :lol:

Clousers, you can use lots of different colours for them.

the address is correct many thanks -

the ragworm fly looks really great - one sanddab (4hrs) on a shrimp pattern - Di7 nailed to the bottom, the sun was shining and it was a lovely day.

@Dave - I fish a lot of shrimp-flies for sea trout, one of the best if not the best is the [url=http://globalflyfisher.com/patterns/honeyshrimp/#dark]Honey Shrimp[/url] it is also known as "the divorce fly". I was introduced to it a couple of years ago and since then have fished it almost exclusively - its deadly for sea trout.

Hi JimH - Pink Shrimp! May I hazard a guess that you've fished for sea trout in the Baltic in the Winter :wink: - pink is a typical colour for winter flies up here.
I also had a look at some of your other flies - a good collection of archetypical Danish coastal flies. Until I "discovered" the Honey Shrimp for myself (well someone said try one of these!) I used to catch most of my sea trout on Magnus or Grey Frede and white shrimps (occasional pink in the winter). Now I use the Honey Shrimp most of the time, I have even caught cod on it!

Hi Guys

I thought I would add mine to the pile. These have been the three flies I have Fished with almost exclusively this season , when fishing cold Atlantic saltwater that is.

The Tooty Fruity Bucktail Deciever with posh eyes has plenty of triggers, I love Chateruse and also I like pink. Im a fan of grey and im keen on Olive and white, so to hell . I use them all in one fly. This has fished well when the fish slow down and start to refuse the fly. Also dawn and dusk.

Hook Gamakatsu SC15 Size 1/0 - 2/0 Various bucktails as above. Holo Chromosome flash or Crystal flash etc Pearl

The Deep Eel is a classic for Stripers but I have also found the fly useful for boatfishing deeper water on bright days this season,

Hook Tiemco 811s or Daiichi 2546 or Mustad S71 sss size 1 -1/0 Unique hair= Gold Over White or Olive over White. , Some Flash.

Number 3 the Sparse DNA frosty Fish Fibre has been the killer this season . I take guys fishing and push them toward useing this fly. They catch a load of fish and then naturally want to use one of thier own creations, Sometime's that pays off but I dont know how many times this season they went back to the FFF Clouser and started catching again. Ive had 6 species in one day twice this season and both days they all fell to the same fly. Its getting boring fishing the same fly everyday.
Its great for Bright days. It has no flash to startle fish it shimmers rather than shines, if that makes any sense. It also is a very stable fly that wont hang up.

With these flies being synthetic you do need to carry a small comb and give them a groom from time to time.

Hook - Gamakatsu SC15 sz 1 -2 or TMC 811s sz 2 -4. FFF Olive over Polar or FFF Tan over Polar :D

Your guessing correctly - if you take a quick look at http://www.irishangler.ie you might see a face you recognise. So i thought if Denmark is a stronghold for seatrout - the fly fishers know what they are talking about. We have been working together for about three years now back and forth -and we brought two groups of six FF's to Ireland this year from Denmark to fish for bass.

I am trying to return that visit this Spring to Denmark

I love seeing, experiencing and learning new techniques, methods from other FF'ishers and trying to apply/adapt some of them here in Ireland is great fun.

hi austin, nice flies mate.. i had a dood few bass on the flat wings (deep eel) like ureself... found it a very doog night fly off the surf beaches

also some very nice flies above guys..ive a heap of them tied up just tp get the time to photo and post them..hopefully will get some up over the weekend

Hows it going ? Are you still fishing down there ? Im hopeing to get my self down SW sometime this winter or early spring. I have not touched Irish soil this calendar year. Ive been all the place but I still pine for the Green Green grass. (When the fog clears that is!)

hey austin, ya still mollesting the bass down this way.. havnt been flyfishing in about 6 weeks tho, south westerlies have churned up the sea pretty serious;y..will probably wait now till about march to get back into it..let me know if your around i'll show you a few of my special marks :wink:

Thanks it would be nice to fish around your neck of the woods again I think I told you on the phone about the fated day when John Hall , Roger Baker and I hammered the place ! Not really we had fek all.

Whats the story with Swansea Cork for 2008 ? Its a pain as I would like to throw a couple of Kayaks on the roof. I flew to Dublin with Ryan Air in 2006 They charged me about £2 for the flight and £30 to carry a rod tube with my Salmon rods in it!

Its march im looking at for a trip to Waterville with hopefully a stop off around the Cork /Clonakilty/Roscarbery area.
