just got a new one and it came with the 2 extra bearings in the box, could someone tell me the purpose of these?? are they extra bearings or do they replace other ones in the reel to add/remove braking??

From memory the extra set of bearings are ABEC 5 spec ( the same as was fitted to the original 525 Supermag ), they are supplied to allow you to set the reel up to best suit your ability/requirements.
You will not need to do anything to the reel before using it other than filling it with line.
