new headlamp

need a new head lamp....my petzel duo belt has packed in after 3 years continuous service so its time for a change....was thinkin about the Silva L1 3 watt led headlamp....has anyone got one, whats your views or any other recommendations

long time no see gilly ha ha ull maybe see me at a few opens.gilly the burn time is the best ive used 4aa last allnighter after allnighter the batteries last for ages get 1 or the new 5 watt 1 :lol:sams always on about tigras he,s changed his mind he wants a silva :lol:

silva's are the wat to go.. not only do you have the option of having 4AA batteries in the headband.. but you also have the option of having a belt pack with 4 C batteries as backup...

a weekends night fishing will be no problem with just the AA batteries.. have done it a few times...

they will last a very long time if you use low power setting too :D

Princeton Tec Apex.

I had a good look at both this and the silva. And the reason for picking the princeton is the wide angle beam option. Best for baiting. The silva has a powerful tight beam for looking down the beach the same as the princeton. But the Princeton has 4 wide beam leds as well which are short range but lights up a wide short area and doesn't spoke fish.

i use one that i got off dave tilly, he gets them off some welsh guy (i think his name is radman or something)

20 watt hallogen power beam and a 12 watt wide beam

Maplins do the LED Lenser range in their stores. From all accounts they are not a bad headlamp. They are priced at £20 and £35 depending on the model and can be tried in store. They have a store on the Boucher road and 1 at Connswater. Both Belfast of course.
