Garfish in Donegal bay?

Garfish in Donegal bay?

Has anyone caught garfish around donegal bay area??

I haven't caught any Garfish in Donegal but I did catch one off rocks near Portstewart last summer. I haven't seen anyone else catch any in this area.

i have had them follow flies and snap at them but have never managed to hook one. i think the secret is very small hooks.

I caught one with a 3 aberdeen spinning a jelly worm for Pollack (Clare). Never saw one live before chuffed with a new species and threw it back after deciding with my brother in law that it was 2.5 to 3 lbs...only to find the Irish record just over 3 lbs and specimen is 2.25lb.. :cry: :cry:
