Report:
woke early(to my standards) and went plugging and spinning on Ballyquin beach in search of bass.. had a few good bangs but nothing connected.. plenty of sandeel in close funny seeing then swimming all around while wearing waders.. sprat were about in numbers too and where there are sprat there are mackerel.. we could even see the odd schoolie bass chasing sprat with the mackerel, ended up being a mack bashing session, MC managed to catch a greater sandeel too(not even foul hooked). I managed to lose 2 garfish but between us we caught about 20 mackerel and only kept 5 for bait(shaking mackerel off a treble isnt as easy as it looks), went for lunch in dinge and saw a few specimen bass swimming around, pity we left the rods behind in the appartment(even though i doubt they would let us fish in the aquarium there).. Dropped herself off back to the appartment and picked up rods and bait and back over the connor pass..went to a nice little mark not far from inch where we could see a few swimming bars of silver bit it was a bit late for spinnig(will be back there again on better tides) after a while of bait fishing we deceided to head back to brandon pier with a few cans... then the fun began
loads of whiting, gale force winds with horizontal rain but we were sheltered by the end of the pier wall. good few species caught and in numbers too.. MC got a few new species to add to his list too, i just got more numbers to add to already caught species..
if anyone is ever down dingle it is well worth popping into the aquarium there.. even just to see the stingray thats looks about 6' across
