winter whitefish - expression of interest

#1 Post by jw »

This thread is to seek expressions of interest in a winter whitefish
trip to fish reefs, stony and sandy ground six to twelve miles west
of loop head in county Clare. Since nobody can cast that far, its
going to be a boat trip, and it is hoped to book the Clare Dragoon
from Carrigaholt as she is a top class charter boats for comfort,
speed, safety and skippers ability to find fish. There is no point in
picking a weekend in November or December and getting down there to
find a gale blowing and a big sea running. Learned that one the hard
way. The plan is to only book the boat when a settled spell of weather
is on the way some weekend in November or December to be decided. The
target species are whiting, cod, haddock, hake, pollack, ling, coalfish
etc. Even in August the whiting are an embarrassment to their kind,
taking whole mackerel baits and it is hoped to catch BIG whitefish in
the winter.

As there are no fixed dates, please post expressions of interest here
to see if the plan is feasible. I think boat hire is 480 for the day
and eight can easily fish.

The guy that runs that boat has an add in Irish angler this month so hes thinking along the same lines himself, the add says that the trip will be totally based around good weather,so things might work out, would be interested,Brian Duggan.

It seems that numbers have been reached but if theres any cancellations or new baby arrivals I'll take a spot!
