Report:Sat was a comp on old bawn, check in at 6. The usual banter was to be had and and off we set to tackle the hill which definitely gets the heart going. We were all set up and ready to go when out of no where we all had to take cover from mad shower of hail stones. Lines in the the water and waiting for the first twitches of the rod. after half an hour or so the first few fish were landed mostly singles of flounder were had.
Fishing was slow i think i had 3 fish in 2 1/2 hrs and rumours down the other end of lads with 6 fish and a 38 pup. I landed a small flounder unclipped the the trace put on the new one flicked it out walked up to the next peg to get it measured as martin was measuring it he looks up and says your rods going mad down there, turned around rod was bouncing in the rest, ran down reeled her in and was delighted to see a bar of silver coming up the beach.A nice fat 48cm bass, delighted was not the word. spirits were lifted in the hope of a few more showing but not to be. landed to more flounder after that. fishing was very slow and plenty of weed. Couple of pups and dogs were landed which is a good sign, hopefully bigger fish to come. Joe Byrne won the comp cant remember how many fish he had but it was a good few.

12th Ballinoulart 2hrs either side of hw
Gary said he was going fishing a half six in the morning and try for a few bass so I said I'd go especially after catching one that evening. dragged my self out of the bed at 6 quick cup of tea and out the door arrived at car park no sign of gary rang him no answer I was cursing in my head. decided to walk on the beach and there he was set up and fishing away. Get your ar#e down here he says just landed a 45 cm bass on my first cast and just missed another on his second cast he said, I thought we were elected grabbed the gear straight back down the beach quickly set up line in the water waiting anxiously for the rod to buckle and waiting and waiting we were not a sign of another bass. landed a few flounder up to about 28cm and gary was the same, plenty of showers wind and annoying weed.
Said we'd call it a day at 11, there was 2 lads up from us who were there when we arrived but don't think they had much look apart from a bass they landed when we were leaving.
Most fish were caught with rag, lug was coming back untouched and so was crab
Still nice to get a few fish and a bit of fresh air

Cheers for the report Andy. typical is just starts getting good before the Ban ;)

Fair play for getting up so early. sounds like you missed them just by minutes.
