Hi all thought i would share this with you.

Sunday 25-01-04
Lynemouth beach

I was undecide on going today, but i was more or less told by Kath to go fishing :D

I went with my usual fishing partners, Kev (The Assassin) and Steve (capt'n)

We had blow lug and rag worm for bait.
Fishing from 12pm until 5pm
Sea condition, calm

The first thing we done when we got to the beach was to put the storm brolly up,keep the wind off us.

Tackle up then away we went.

Not much to tell about the session, it was a very quiet day.
It was about 1.5 hours into the session when the first bite came, Steve seemed to take a little jump towards his rod, then gave a moan about missing it.
It continued like that throughout the day

But lo and behold Steve's rod tip gave a little bounce, yes he said FISH ON, he beached a small flat fish.

The sight of the fish gave us hope.

More was to follow, Kev beached a small BASS,

And Steve beached two small BASS, all the fish were safely returned to the water

Steve and myself decided to go beachcombing, walk the length of the beach up to the beck, then back to the brolly, i went under the brolly for a cuppa, Kev and Steve went walkabout,

When they came back it was decided to call it a day
Scores for the day

Steve 2 bass and one flat fish
Kev one bass
Me= blanked

The wind made it seem colder than it was John
Nothing for the score sheet Phil :(

Seaham Pier last Sunday

Today saw the first time we fished Seaham pier.

I was fishing with my usual mates, Kev,aka The Assassin and Steve, aka The Capt'n.

Kev picked us up at 8.45,then away we went.
On arrival we walk tghe half mile or so to the end of the pier, nice calm day, little wind, good conditions we thought.

For bait i had.
Fresh lugworm
Ragworm
Frozen runnidown
Sand eel.

Rig used was as ever my favourite, the pully rig, armed with a size 4-0 kamasan hook and a 6oz gripper weight.

Kev decided to fish the drum end of the pier, Steve and myself fished just below, we had some protection from the slight wind.

On the first cast, say fifteen minutes or so later we heard Kev,

Well there's angler and there's anglers, Kev had caought a tommy codling.

And here he is just before release.

.

Well done Kev, first fish to him.
We continued to fish when another club member joined us, the usual chatter ensued, the other angkler tackled up and joined us.

Kev struck again, this time a small whiting.

Steve myself and our new chum had nothing.
Then Kev stuck again :nice1: this time a pouting.

Steve said to me have you brought any wet gear, no said i, look at this comming over Steve said, the sky had turned rather nasty to the east.
By this time the wind had picked up.
The angler who joined us had decided he had had enough, he went further down the pier for some better protection.

The three amigo'e decided to stick it out on the drum head. Which turned out to be a stupid thing to do.

Come about 11.30 the wind had picked up, it was blowing a gale.
We had a little chat about the state of the weather, all of a sudden out of the corner of my eye, my rod was starting to go, the catch of the day must have been me jumping at my rod, ending up on my knees to save it from being blown into the sea.
Thats it i thought, on retrieval of my line, lo and behold,i had a whiting on, i never saw the bite, the wind was that bad
That was it enough was enough, we had no hessitation in packing up and calling it a day

So we packed up to fish another day.
When we were walking off the chat was about our next outing, which will be hopfuly tomorrow night down at my local beach which is much safer

I had a good day on my first use of my membership card, two good mates to fish with, but the weather turned nasty and cut our session short, but we still enjoyed the 2.5 hours we fished.

PS
Steve was the only one to blank.

And we went back last night.

6 casts, 5 snags, 5 lost rigs

One bite, missed it,one rig retrieved.

Kev was the one tonight, 2 small whitings.

The water condition was flat, just a little roll on,
Plans are afoot for thursday night

Tue Feb 03, 2004 7:40 am

Got a phone call from my mate Kev today, get yer gear sorted we're going fishing, but Kev i said i've got no bait, got loads of it said Kev, i dont know what to do, i've got a stinking head cold , i'll be down for you in a half hour, ok then, the lure of the sea won the day.

We fished from 4pm until 7pm

Anyway when we got to the beach, not 5 minutes from my house, Steve was already there, the three amigos, on Hendon prom.

It was cold, the wind was from the west, so at least we had our backs to it.

Sure enough Kev had the baot sorted out, BIG BLACK BLOW LUG WORM,
BOUGHT FROM THE TACKLE SHOP YESTERDAY , and some rag worm for tipping off with

I got tackled up as fast as i could, baited up and ready for my first cast, out it went, right then where's my tip light, i never go out without it, its always in my gadgets box, arghhhhhhh its not there, i left my gadgets/rigs making box at home   but at least i had my headlamp, not very effective when looking up at the rod tip, it tends to give you a stiff neck.

The water decided to get a bit naughty, the waves were lifting all the time, the wind got stronger, and it got colder, aye ooop got a slack line there said Kev, he got a hold of his rod, reeling in at a frantic pace, when he got the line tight, he struck, FISH ONNNNNNNNNNN, sure enoughh he had a fish, a nice cod of 3.5lbs.

Steve was the next to get a fish, another decent cod of 2llbs 9oz.

Steve was leaving us at 7pm, out on the beer for him, its your turn he said, you get a fish then i'll mgo, you'll have a long wait then i said jokingly , just then my rod tip dipped, then again, and again, i struck into it, gotcha, reeling it it the line went slack, it must be swimming in with the waves, sure enough my line went tight again, and at a length of 50 yards or so from the shore line, my line snapped, the air turned blue, :rant1.

I lost it, :rant1:

But not to worry there's more there tonight, but the rain started, and it was getting colder, thats enough said Kev, got to get you better for work tomorrow my lad, Kev and Steve are still on holiday from work.

Plans were made for our nextb outing, gea packed and away home for a nice hot bath, and a Chinese meal,

I got a piccy of Kevs fish, here he is below

Alas i did not get one of Steve's fish, i was sitting in Kevs car having a nice hot cuppa, and getting a warm, Steve had it landed and back in the water before i could get the camera ready.

A good few hours, if not cold hours on the north sea :nice1:

8 of us from The Donegal Bay Club fished the British open on the 6/7march
from Bridlington to Spurn point.Only one counting fish caught between us over the 2 days. 1350 Anglers took part and 194 caught over all. One fish a 7lb cod took the honours over 2 days. Not good fishing.

Lynemouth beach 21-03-04

What a day it turned out to be.

The water was not very good for fishing, very little movement.

Kev ( The Assassin) and Steve (Capt'n) ane moi went to Lynemouth beach.
Stuck in chuffibg traffic for 1.5 hrs :rant1: after the Tyne Tunnel.

Baits for today
Lug
Rag and some rather large White worms

Got to the beach, set up and away we went.We were fishing the flood tide.

I had rag and lug combo on the hook.

Cast out then sat under the trusty old brolly for a nice hot cuppa

After the cuppa and a bite to eat, about an half hour had passed.
Time to reel in and check the bait

Reeled down then struck.
About 30 yards from the beach i felt a sudden tug on the rod, then another, mmm the spikes must be getting stuck.

Got the terminal tackle on the water edge and this is what i saw.

A nice bass of abot 1.75lbs
A bass on the first cast, great its a good sign.

Next to land a fish was Steve, a small flattie

After than, nowt, nothing not a bite for ages.

As usual me and Steve went walkabout,

Kev gave a whistle, he got a flattie, sorry no picture.

Canny day on the beach with my mates, three fish landed.

I took this piccy of Kev chucking the 6oz gripper out.
Look to the top right of the picture, you can see Kevs terminal tackle
