dunlaoighre west pier 25/04/10

Sun Apr 25, 2010 11:28 pm

time: 2pmish- 7 or 8ish

tide;out then flooding

weather: rain,wind,occassional sunny breaks

rigs: float, runnin ledger, 2 hook flappers

bait: ragworm

results:3 small pollock,1 whiting,numerous dab,1 not so bad plaice

Had some ragworm in the fridge so decided to head out to dunlaoighre today to have a mess around and kill a few hours. Arrived about 2 on the west pier and set up a float rig and fished it off the back wall for an hour picking up 3 small pollock but with the weather turning foul decided to abort the float fishing and set up my beach rod with a two hook flapper.Fishing at range onto sand the bites were frequent with dab coming almost every cast interrupted by 1 fairly decent plaice :D :D 8) just before i left. I ran out of bait about 7 an picked up a whiting on my last cast , so all in all not a bad way to spend a sunday.. oh apart from nearly loosing my rod and reel to a speed boat while my back was turned    quick reflexs saved me about five hundred quid

Fair play on the Plaice, nice way to spend a few hours :)

There used to be good Plaice caught inside the harbour years ago dirctly in front of the old lifeboat house, it's changed completely now though I here there are stil decent flounder caught though at the fishhouse if the seals dont get there before ya :p
