frozen- killiney coalies

Wed Dec 02, 2009 4:46 am

People:myself and Al

Duration:2 1/2hours

Tide:high

Weather:like inside the freezer

Bait:mussel, mackeral

Rigs: flappers, loops...

Results:see below

Report:fished killiney on monday night. flat calm and a clear sky. the plan was to try and get a coalie or two. out went the worst 3hook flappers we could find. hit a coalie each on the first cast, not very big but a good start. these were followed by a succession of mini codling. Al took a decent whiting out far on the loop rig. found a few decent coalies in close before we left. nice on the quivertip :D baiting up was unbearable- there were ice crystals on everything. a nice session with no wind or rain for a change.

I still haven't defrosted yet. Nice session though :) hardly any gear just a few rigs and bait..should fish like that all the time!
The quivertip looked like a nice way to fish for the coalies the bites were savage on it especially when mark got a decent coalie in the suds :D i felt abit overgeared with my rod though..might bring me coarse fishing quiver out if we get a night calm enough! you also forgot about Mr. Flounday :)

i did forget the flounder  quivertip is just a light tip section on a rod for showing up shy bites as used in coarse fishing. good fun but the slightes wave or wind affects them too much to be worth using all the time. they put a bit of fun back into catching tiddlers.

Hey Al,

Look for a cheap "Heavy Carp" Quiver tip....... will suite perfectly.... Trust me
