I have completely given up on there after multiple blank sessions there in perfect conditions: warm evenings on an incoming tide and nothing.
Mackerel fishing from shore around Cork has become so hit and miss (mainly miss) in the past few years

I had a nosey down at Balscadden today about 2 hours before high tide, place was jammers (as per usual) so I didn't stay to fish but for the few minutes I was watching I saw a few mackerel being caught! I ended up fishing the Howth east pier but no mackerel for me unfortunately..

			20/8/21
Macs are finally in Dublin Bay. Popped down to dalkey yesterday with my 3 year old. Wind was very strong so only had 12 casts. Had 3 on second cast and 5 on last cast. Finally in better late than never. Was getting them a month earlier last year

			Slim pickings North Clare 26.08.
I got a string of 4 after everyone else left with nothing.
And then a single scad taken practically at my feet.

None in a half day feathering on outside of Dun Laoghaire East Pier 22nd August. None caught on whole pier (15 anglers) evening of 25th. Got 20 on boat off greystones 29th. Few and far between. Had 80 in an hour off greystones at the start of August so they're there but very patchy going to wait another couple weeks before trying for the shore.
