Report:Was supposed to go Saturday evening but was too tired,,,or so the wife told me

,,,,,so headed out after work today for a few hours to
Greystones. There were a few mack bashers there when i arrived , but a heavy shower ensured that some left and i set up at my usual spot

. I set up the two rods but i was concentrating more on the small one as i've become addicted to catching tiddlers

. A steady stream of codling, pollock, coalies and whiting followed as the skies cleared and the rain moved out to sea. A seal was nearby but didnt seem to affect the fishing. I was getting some small fish on the big rod at distance but i considered packing it away to concentrate on wrasse and other species in close. I sent it out for a last cast and bent down to bait the small rod when the big rod jumped and i grabbed it just before it went over the edge,,,,,,,,,,,,,,fish on and i reeled in a nice bass of about 45cms

.A quick pic and i released it . This was the first bass i caught at distance and the first that really thumped the rod. I took a pic with the phone and sent it to Fishface to cheer him up

,,i'm sure he was delighted for me,,,,as i was for him when he caught 2 smoothies recently

. I baited the big rod again and cast out,,,, it was thumped again and i thought it was another bass, but it was a decent size mackeral who gave a better scrap than the bass.

Igot another one later on before i finally packed the beachcaster away. I got a lot of small fish on it too which were eaten by some bigger fish

On the small rod in close i was getting plenty of corkwing wrasse, male and female, lots of coalies and a curious black blenny
