team results were u16 - 1st leinster, 2nd connaught, 3rd munster, 4th ulster
u21 - 1st leinster, 2nd munster, 3rd ulster

congrats to alex on his individual win on the u16s, he won it by a mile.
unfortunately due to bad conditions the saturday morning session had to be moved to benone, then the saturday night session had to be cancelled due to unsafe conditions for anglers at the east strand portrush and many other possible other venues, so with portstewart not looking great either for the sunday the decision was taken to go back to benone for 2 more sessions on the sunday.catches were fairly decent with flounder, turbot, coalies, and a bass taken over the 2 days at this venue.

fair play to all the anglers who took part, and all the other team coaches etc who had to stand out through some brutal conditions on the saturday morning, the young guys done really well.

it was good to meet some ohter forum members at the comp too.

Just so people realise the recent inter provincial in Ulster had nothing to do with making the Irish team. It is only used as means for selection. Hence the true purpose of the competition is lost on anglers who only go to fish for themselves to make the Irish team and not for their Provence for which they where selected for in the 1st place!

if it is used as a means of selection then dosent it have alot to do with it? i know it wasnt lost on our team anyway.

fish midget,
if Irish team selection wasnt involved would you have been as inclined to travel to the north and fish it ????????

Yes he would and I also reckon most of the people taking part from other teams would have as well.

well, since the present system was introduced, i believe that it has worked pretty damn well,

most if not all the provinces now fish a series of competitions to determine who will represent their province at the inter pro.....this was perhaps not the case before hand where maybe only a couple of competitions were fished to make your team. in turn, this should produce your strongest provincial team.

so then to have all four provinces best young anglers competing together and drafting your irish team from it has to be a good thing??

from being at the recent championship there is one thing that i can say, the main thing that i did pick up on was team work. all teams who travelled up for it had a good weekend together, even in dreadful conditions yet again this year, of course everyone who took part wanted a shot at making the irish team, but i believe i can speak for many here when i say that the irish team qualification came second in many peoples minds.
once again, congratulations to all those who made the irish teams, and indeed to all those who qualified to fish for their respective provinces, it did show that plenty of good youth talent is being developed across the island for the future of our sport and the good of the federation as a whole.
