I agree with lumpy the north face and lowe alpine gear is top class stuff great for base layers and not bulky easy to move about but heres another tip stand side ways to the direction of the wind it might sound silly but u,ll be surprised the difference it makes

I can't wear contacts so I wear a cap with a peak!
Get a neck gaitor or scarf to stop cold getting down the collar of you coat
fish on a pier and stay in the car! :D
wear gloves yes they'll get covered in fishy goo but your hands will be warm Take them off for unhooking though.

have the same problem and I now take the spare pair for fishing, they are more robust and expendable
