Ballycastle (MAYO) area thick with macks yesterday (Weds May 30). Lot of smaller ones but some big fat lads too. They've also moved off the bottom to midwater. Almost back to summer pest levels...... :D

Three rods in and around Cork Harbour yesterday evening (1st June). 3 mackerel in singles, all taken on krill effect trace, none to silver paper, coloured feathers, black feathers.

Not about in numbers where we were. Lovely evening out there - thanks Dermot skipper out of Crosshaven

Caught plenty out of Carlingford on Sunday. Caught them from the Imogene buoy all the way back to Carlingford, as well as out by the Hellyhunter and the (now gone) Whistler. We weren't targeting them, just wanted a few for bait.

Still scarce in the South of Sligo bay . Mostly small shoals of small fish but did find some good sized macks hard on the bottom in 90 ft of water . Seems strange as they are nearly always between 10 and 35 ft .

Had loads last Sunday, half a mile north of Melmore. Stonking great bigs ones too. They must be patchy - we had no trouble at all finding them, another charter boat that came out after us took an hour to find enough for a day's bait.

And very small too! I've scaled down from the usual Hokkai's to much smaller rigs to get any.
