mickeyfish wrote:Fantastic fish JW well done so jealous, i am due to go on the 27th could you possibly show us the shad or rigs you would reccomend. I have never wreck fished and would be a little uncetain of how to gear up

hi mick, im will be on the trip on the 27th as well, finger xed we will get the weather,
i put the shad on a 4oz lead head and wound it up really fast with a fixed spool reel,
it seems to me this can often be more effective than a shad fished behind a heavy lead

hi kev, uk hooks do a selection of them, there's also a mould for them on "do it moulds"
as far as i know. it seems to me the torpedo shape like in the photo helps it move through
the water quicker then other shapes

I'm fishing that trip on the 27th too. Glad to see those lures work. I've a few at home and the last time i brought them out on a boat trip the other lads took the mick saying i must have forgot to bring lures and brought a box of sex toys instead.

Lures can be great for Pollcok and Coalies and soft plastics connected directly is fantastic.... Myself, Rob and Jim had great fun with Pollock (up to 10lb for Jim) with plastics and very light rods..... Will post a nice pic later...

Thanks foir the info John,
I'll try get a few of the heavier leadheads.
