How do you know the weight of the fish then.........

in competitions, they generally measure the fish. if you take the average lengths (in this case they averaged 65-75cms), you can tell roughly what weight they were. also i have caught a few ray in the past and i would say i am a pretty good judge of what weight a fish is. do you think i am exagerating or something?
maybe the fish didnt weight 300lbs, maybe they weighed 299lbs or 301lbs - does it really make a difference?

I think this has a lot to do with what you enjoy in your fishing
Is it scenery?, the style of fishing?, the species themselves?, or the whole combination?.
Gotta say, I just love the dingle peninsula,after buying the "bible" by bob moss a long time ago.
Dunquinn head, light tackle spinning for pollock and float fishing for wrasse . Wow.
Last summer, Dave_B and I landed close to 50 pollack in an afternoon session in glorious sunshine. Averaging 4-8lbs the fishing was quite amazing.
On the foreign front, the salmon fishing in alaskas river Kenai is quite amazing. From fly fishing sockeyes to the heavyweight king salmon , quite breathtaking-http://www.fishing.co.uk/trophyroom_display.php3?id=50
