I headed back to the same beach last night in search of the monster bass, armed with some new rigs with heavy duty 4/0 hooks. But the surf was very weak and there were no bass bites. I did manage a small flounder (23 cm), two dogfish and a five bearded rockling, despite using 4/0 hooks. Something was stripping the bait, probably small founder, but I stuck with the larger hooks in the hope that a bass might show up.
