6 hours along the Coombe strand / Carnsore Point last weekend and not a sausage :(
Although a young Wexford man casually told me "they won't be in until the 15th, 16th and 17 of August".....strange.......Anyone ever heard such precise predictions????

They seem to be into that sort precise prediction in Wexford. I was told one day by a local in Tinnabearna that the beach always fishes best when the river flows to the left.

Lads anyone know af any Macks around cork harbour. I've the two two young lads busting me to bring them out but it seems the good ole days of only three years ago are gone where i could bring them out with mackerel in a frenzy all around in Ringaskiddy. Took them to Fountainstown and Myrtleville last night not a sniff. Being young their attention span wouldnt be great so if there arent fish around they get bored but at the same time if there are fish around its fab to see the smile on their faces. Tides are good at the moment but no sign of macks :-(( .

Anyone having any luck around the harbour ??

thanks

One out at howth harbour today. Bloody hell, thought it was a huge sea bass. Deadly fight from it on light spinning gear.

That's mackerel off the species list for this year, oh, and also pollack.

Havnt seen a mak taken off skerries since the east winds last weekend.
Once the water has that sand/silt look about it, I rekon it's a waste of time.

We had 12 off the back of the west pier in Dunlaoghaire from the boat but very close in last night.

Hey Keem, were you out for long and were the macks a decent size? I've fished off the Pier a couple of times but its been very slow in the mack dept, mostly joeys were being caught.

Passed by the bridge at Kinsale on Monday (27th Aug) around HT time (3PM ish). About 6 people fishing and not a sign of a mack. Hopefully some will be arriving with the spring tide and slightly better weather.

If you have ANY info at all from around please post it up, don't wait to be asked. Please keep it coming, there's only a few weeks left in the season really and I still haven't caught a mackerel from the shore this year. Anyone in my situation has to drive half an hour before finding out if there is a sniff of a mackerel

Thanks
