20th july dunmore east, waterford flat rocks. 8 fishing an hour either side of high tide Zero Macks.

thats good as the west pier is fishing very slow lately for them so moved down to poolbeg was getting nothing but joeys down there

Ballycotton today 11:00 to 14:30

1st hour or so quiet but it got very crowded after that.

No mackeral whatsoever caught by anyone while we were there.
Nothing else caught either (we tried sandeel and crab on the bottom)

we were geting all mackerel on float fished sandeel 'good few lads were catching nothing on mackerel scalps,so we gave most of them eels happy days everyone got a few fish ,could have sold a bucket full of eels after that :idea: 8) :lol:

Shed loads of macks from ballycotton today.....my bucket was full lol
Catches for 2012: Pollock, Mackerel, Dogfish, Sea Trout, Ballen Wrasse

And more to come on the end of my line ............

Mackerel have reurned to Donegal after the red tide. Went to a rock mark on the W. Coast and caught 6 in a short time. Lots of sprats in evidence.

Hey lads any mackeral in Belmullet Mayo. Heading there on Saturday for a week. Haven't fished there before. Any marks/advise on the area will be much appreciated

Was out for a walk with the partner down to the end of poolbeg and Just a quick question she asked me " why dont the bashers kill their fish instead of letting it jump around in the bag in agony" and die a slow death.. Gave her the answer but she asked me to post this so any more answers Lads.. By the way it was a disgrace to see the fish in agony...after I asked a basher to kill his fish he told me in broken English NO..... I dispatch ( priest ) my fish quickly if its for the plate and if its the legal size only!!!!!

Fingers in the gills and pull the head back works a charm for me :D

Just remember to point its arse and throat away from ye ,usually a spray of blood and stomach contents but instant death usually

I unfortunately learned this the hard way. Got a nice spray of 'stomach contents' :roll: Its defo the quickest way though!

So did I when I was a young lad ,I remembered saying hello to the parents and being marched out to the kitchen to put my cloths into the washing machine,to be fair I'd been catching macks all day ,and I hadn't mastered correct neck breaking technique and I think I got a few mullet that day too ,I can only imagine the stench of me when I walked in :D
