Shannon estuary Tope Fishing

Whats the best dept for tope fishing on the shannon estuary any other tips would be appreciated
I've had a few trips out to beal bar and the around scattery island with no success had plenty of fresh mackerel for bait but no tope .
Are the number not what they used to be ?

Try Littor strand. head right at the end of the road. Don't drive on the beach, you will get stuck. Fish into the channels exposed at low tide up to and over high, crabs an absolute pest. Late spring and early summer best. Unlike most Shannon marks you may get big females here (had a couple). I've tried lots of marks in the Shannon, but most only seem to hold small males and they come and go like the wind
