Well done, great to see it go back aswell. The two Bass I had in Sligo were also on pretty fierce days with a big ground seas. Also if you catch a Bass up there this time of year you tend not to get small ones, as I havn't herd of anyone catching schoolies up there at this time of year. Could be they are fattening up before moving to warmer seas! Remember exactly the time of the tide you got the hit.
You will have everyone hunting for earthworms. I have herd of people using them before but never took much crediance with it. Herd of people using them in matches for flounders in estuaries as they go white in the salt water and tend to look like white rag. How long do the last on the hook?

cheers for all the replys folks - really chuffed with that fish - certainly the best i have had from the shore, a bass that size is a nice catch anywhere - in Sligo its verge's on miraculous   ,

been pleasantly surprised with the earthworms and will be keeping a tub handy for emergency bait.

as for C&R - I do eat fish - and there are a few species that are guarenteed a one way ticket to my frying pan, but a 'Big Mamma' bass like that - a real survivor and prime breeding stock just has to go back, knowing that fish is still out there really ups the excitement for any future visits to that mark - besides if i wanted to keep a bass for dinner I'd take one from waterford /wexford where they have pleanty to spare

thanks a again folks - definitly a birthday to remember

cheers corby - i think i have got this fishin sussed - if ya want a bass ya just have to go fishin for flounder :D :D :D :D

if ya want mullet ya need to target wee codling - sorted.

considering how light the angling pressure is up here that beach might well throw up a few more - i'd say it will be getting a bit more attention now anyway!

when ru back up this way?
