I'm after a floating shooting head for bass fishing in an estuary which is very shallow , only a couple of feet of water
where distance casting would be a definate advantage. Some thing that you could punch into wind with a large fly if necessary.
Anybody got any ideas or favourites ?

I'm using a nine foot, nine weight Bruce and Walker bone fishing rod. The largest fly I would use
would be a gurgler popper which is quite chunky and has fair wind resistance because of the foam
which is tied in, I think it is tied on a heavy size 8.

Two lines spring to mind JC - remember a gurgler is easier to cast and fish with than a true popper and shouldnt cause you any real problems in geting out there
You could try an integrated shooting head line like the Rio Outbound in a #9F or say a Jim Teeny - Bruce Chard Permit Line or a tougher line like the Airfow 40 + SW
