Has anyone tried to catch them on the fly?

I would love to try this method, but dont know of any decent marks.

Replies or pm's welcome.

Tried it once, necer caught one, was polluted by tiny pollack, codling and whiting, even dropped a mini wrasse on them, it take you to get a big shoal in a frenzy i think.

There are some great marks around North Clare but thats a long way to go to catch some mackerel on a fly id say any rocky outcrop which is low and not too busy could be good for mackerel on the fly.

I was in Lahinch the other evening and the sea was like a lake it was so calm and the place was boiling with mackerel and pollock chasing the sandeels into the rocks just outside O'Looneys its unusual to see them there but good to know all the same, im not familiar with Dublin mackerel marks but best of luck with it anyway and if your heading down this way pm me and ill put you in the direction of a few good marks with huge pollock to add to your list of fly caught sea fish :D

They are easy to catch on The fly, the problem is finding the venue where you can fly fish.
Once they start attacking sprat....no prob. and great fun too.......
