cork vs dublin!! boy!

looks and sounds good eric.
is it going to be confined to cork harbour or is it going to be weather permitting.
i should also have no problem towing boat to cork.
is it going to be a free for all, what i mean is outsiders/non sai members allowed to enter/ bring boats, are non boat anglers coming aswell, is there juniors allowed.
what about howth head to kish light to bray head for up here.
and will there be limits down in cork if weather is good.

you can drvie the boat where ever you want john, they are just the areas we will all be leaving from and returning too, who ever is on your boat is at your discretion as well, although leave room for a munster lad. juniors can fish if you want

Lad's if we can get the Leinster lads to make the effort I'd recommend we hold the Leinster session out of Wicklow. Most boats can motor (by sea) from Bray/Greystones to Wicklow in less than 30 minutes, and they've two slips in Wicklow harbour for launching also. We could contact the Grand Hotel in Wicklow to see if they'd do an overnight rate for anyone staying over. The reason for Wicklow is the quality of the Animal fishing in that area. I've been on small boats in the July when we won with 55 Tope in six hours (plus Ray and Smoothies, and enough Dogs to wrap twice around the world). If we run it out of there I've got at least a dozen marks I can make available (the IFSA lads will kill me) and in most cases we'll all be within a couple of miles of each other so we'll be close enough to have the bit of craic. But Late June and all of July would be recommended.

i'd be up for that paul, only reason i said the bray/dun laoghaire area was because anglers had the choice of fishing the reefs as well. but an all out animal bash would be good craic,

Sounds good to me Paul, could be down to Wicklow by sea from Dun Laoghaire in about 1 hour without pushing too hard. Eric just has to organise good weather, so start practicing that 'No Rain' dance Eric.

I'd be bringing an orkney longliner to the table (unless the lotto strikes), so do we need a limit on distances etc, or is just going to be a per boat comp between the munster and leinster represetative(s) on each boat, in which case there will be no disadvantage in having a slow boat or should I be upgrading ?

hey Scotsman, the advantage of having an animal comp is that its at anchor so it really doesnt matter what speed your boat it. From Wicklow we'd need half-decent weather to make it easy for everyone to get around the Wicklow Head. Normally these comps are set in such a way that everyone had at least an hour to get to their mark before it starts so it should be OK with the Orkney, but I'd expect that there'll be enough Leinster boats to accomodate the Munster men!

Joking aside, he'll take two in it and if we are hosting an opposing competitor per boat then its full...plus another person can fish if I use my own one. I have no problem using mine if it's a per boat comp, but faster boats could have an advantage if its not....

As Paul says above, at anchor and with time to get out there, no problem, but if we are zipping between marks outside Cork harbour, for instance, then my boat has a serious disadvantage.
Just trying to clarify how it's being scored etc. I guess we just need to find out how many people, boats and spaces for definite and then can work it out from there?

Hi screaming reels, you're right, but in fairness that's all we're good for. Anyway, when the Munster men can throw up 2 pound whiting from their waters you can imagine how embarrassed that makes us in Leinster, the only thing that we can class a fish is the Tope (and maybe the odd huss, smoothie and ray), but if we go after "white fish" we'll need to limit the sizes to 15 cm just to ensure we all catch something that will score on the card

Seem to remember screeming that you came second ahead of a lot of Leinster lads in Bray Sea Anglers SAC 2 day Open boat comp a couple of years ago and that was on day 2 "The Animal Bash" day and you wasted the first hour by trying at the Breaches Buoy on way to Killoughter. great achievement by the way.
