hi lads
what is your favourite beach shelter?
Thu Oct 14, 2010 5:55 pm
either the ron thompson or the ian golds which is a bit more expensive. your best bet is to head to a beach about an hour before a comp starts and have a look at the ones there and make your own mind up. by being early you can see how easy/difficult they are to put up and have a chat to the lads that are using them.
they might not be too helpfull if you turn up 5 mins before the comp when their just about to cast out.

I just (yesterday) received my Ian Golds Igloo from Paul Mason on here, (brilliant price and service thanks) set it up in the garden in seconds and it seems to be a very good piece of kit, will christen it for real next week and report back, for once I'm praying for bad weather!

ya i agree the ron thompson or the ian golds is the best.but if u need a triopd in the near future why dont u buy the shakespeare salt one and u can buy a shelter cover that fits it when the tripods extended.i think the tripod and cover r 60-70 euro in total.u see it on the back page of the total sea fishing magazines.well im not sure if there still there on the back page now.,lol.looks a great job thou.sitting in ur tripod lookin up at ur rod tips.

i thought i recognised ya from here alright. i was just by the pipe.
i think the ian golds is easier to put up. its also easier to carry as all the poles are straight.
i have the ron thompson one and its not hard to put up, just not as easy on a windy day.

Ian Golds Igloo is the job alright as mentioned by some of the lads.
I had the Sheakspeare Salt tripod shelter as well, its OK but looking up from within the Tripod is not ideal.

i think i might go for the ron thompson as i dont want to spend over 65euro on one
