Ian Gold's fishing bag

Mon Jan 04, 2010 2:20 pm

I had been looking around recently for a proper fishing bag as the one I had was wholly inappropriate. The Mrs. must have got wind of it and got me Ian Gold's large back pack from 'santa', bless her cotton socks! The bigger surprise was that she did it without my knowlege or advice! Better yet.

However, there's an element to it that I just can't figure out. Maybe someone here can help and I apologise if it turns out to be a really stupid question!

It comes with a separate, detachable cooler box and 4 velcro straps. I'm assuming therefore that you can attach the cooler box to the outside of the bag thereby leaving more room for junk inside the bag. I just can't figure out how to do it. The top of the main bag which zips open has 4 straps attached to the top, which I assume should be used with the 4 velcro straps that come with the cooler bag. However, the same 4 straps appear at the top of the cooler bag and I can't see how to attach the cooler bag to the main bag without doing so upside down. Maybe this is the only way to to it, in which case it's just meant to be used to transport them together and then detach when you get to where you're going? Is that it? If so it seems a bit daft.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

On the side's freezer bag there are two Velcro flaps that go around the shoulder straps for carrying.
there is a good review on this sitehttp://www.planetseafishing.com/rev ... -backpack/ hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip Paul, but I still can't figure it out. I see the velcro straps on the side of the cool bag but the side straps of the shoulder straps of the main back won't reach high enough to attach.

I read the review you provided the link for, thanks for that. However all the reviewer says is

The cool bag/tackle bag can also be attached to the top of the backpack for easy access with additional straps that are also supplied.

but fails to explain how. I'm assuming they must attach with the cool box upside down as I can see no other way to do it. However as mentioned this seems daft to me.

Anyway, I'll figure something out.

Thanks again.

Thanks a million Paul. I'm awfully thick. I actually didn't see the shoulder strap, it was tucked under the back pack straps. It's only when I saw your photo that I realised it has two separate straps.

That's great, thanks again I really appreciate it.
