Any one use or have an opinion on these reels ?
Is there any where in Ireland to buy them?

Do a "search" on the site the topic has been aired before. You may not get the answer you need but worth a read.

Hi, Use two of them on the boat, have had shimano up until these , will never look back, bearings are far stronger, and they are much easier to do a service on, they are nice and basic inside the reel but very strong.
Corrosion so far has not been an issue either.

Ps , if you can, get them from the states, there half price

Funny you should ask........
There's been a lot of good press re Avet Reels in the past 5 -6 years from anglers. But very little long-term experience of them, in the same way we anglers know about the likes of say Penn, Shimano, Abu etc.
So, for the last 3 years I've been subjecting my SX to dogs abuse, to see how it stands up. I'll rinse it off in fresh water after every trip, and that's the extent of care it's had, bar easing off the lever drag when not in use. It hasn't been opened up or had a sniff of oil/grease/servicing.
I took it out after thornies last Saturday. First trip of the year, and it performed faultlessly with roker up to 7 lbs.
I'll probably wait till the end of this boat season to open it up and have a look inside to see how it's fared, but so far it's a good'un.

Courtown sea-angling centre will be stocking AVET reels from 1st july 2009
They will ,as far as i'm aware be the only shop in Ireland to stock them !!!

Interesting..... It will be very hard for them to match the US prices, but if they get close I'll get one off them at least.

As the Lads have said the SX is a tasty piece of work. Will swallow 300m of braid. Will be great for anything from sharks to corkwings!

I have an AVET SX for 3 odd years. Washed every session but limited maintenance. Indestructable and has never let me down.
I fished conger in cahersiveen and dogs in wicklow on it and never a problem. normally have it matched to a Grauvell Anaga for gilling. or drifting over sand.

Supberb reels yet to hear a bad word from anybody who has one, great boats reels and like Alex said very easy to add mags if targeting big fish from the shore
