breakaway thumb button

just put one on a 12 foot telescopic rod for light lead work all i can say is if you use a fixed spool give it a try ,i,m hooked it also enables power casting with braid straight through so if weed is a problem no leader knot is required got one for 2 yo yos on ebay ,if you fish with a multi and fixed spool you will find using your thumb to release the line on a fixed spool a lot easier to time for distance work and no saw fingas :?

Any pics of this on the rod? Would like to see how it holds and releases the line

Hi,

I'll second this one - got a slightly different one a while back it's the Breakaway Casting Canon I think. Use it on a 15ft rod with a fixed spool and 20lb braid, the release is so smooth it's fantastic and no nasty braid cutting into your fingers etc. every fixed spool rod should have one!

the one in the picture is the older model, the newer breakaway casting
canon which sits just opposite the reel is far superior.

Have to agree the Breakaway Thumb Button is a good bit of kit. I have been using them for 3/4 years and would not be without one on my beachcasters. Never tried the Canon though, At about £10 its outa my price range compared to the Thumb Button at £1.50 ish.
